"Think they need better than just security," Duo said sharply before popping up to his feet and slamming his hands down on the desk. "And only relying on Yuy is a grave mistake. He's good, but he's compromised in this situation, or did you not think about that?" He snapped before letting out a frustrated noise, "your disregard and not moving her out of Brussels is going to spell disaster. I'll have your fucking hide if it comes to that. I've given up way too fucking much for this peace for you to disregard me."
He pulled his cap back on, tucking his hair and suddenly looked like an entirely different person. "Don't make me have to reach out to Yuy to make sure precious life doesn't die by your hands."
Une just glared at him. "It doesn't matter where they go, Duo. They're always going to be targets. We're handling it and we've handled it for the past decade."
Duo made a face at her slamming his hand on the table for emphasis, "this isn't your regular run of the mill bullshit, lady. Don't think you're catching that. But hey, sure. Just don't make me come out because of this bullshit."
He leaned over the table and gave her a very cold, hard look, "if I have too, it'll be your ass on the fucking line. Promise you that."
He pushed off and waved over his shoulder as he exited her office, "I mean you already made me come dirt side. I should take my pound of flesh just for that alone."

Ten years after the war and there is peace. But it is hard fought and hard won. But just because you get it once, doesn't mean it's not under constant threat. Duo took to heart the desires of the others to not have to sully their hands further in the name of peace. He killed off his existence to allow the others to live their lives. But a threat made good from a group calling themselves the Retributioners makes Duo have to reveal himself.
My notes: I have high hopes for this fic. It starts out brutal - CW for child death and non-pilot MCD - but it's very engaging. I can't wait to see where it goes. Warning, though: this isn't very Relena-friendly.
