Relena’s fingertips touch his lightly, her palm resting over the top of his hand, holding him closer as she frowns slightly. “I didn’t notice. How bad does it look?”
“Worse than it probably is. Bleeding’s stopped, at least. You don’t know what happened?”
“I was a little distracted.” She glances around them meaningfully.
“Neck ache? Any numbness? You seeing double?”
“I’m fine, Duo. Stop fussing.”
“Yeah, well, when a building falls on your girlfriend, one kinda tends to worry.” The humor in his own voice is desperate, incredulous. He’s joked and bantered his way through many a disaster, but he’s still getting used to the idea that Relena can do the same.
